A Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and is required to register a business, open a bank account, clear goods and file taxes. In 2026 your Ghana Card number doubles as your individual TIN for many purposes, but businesses and some individuals still need to complete the GRA registration.
Who needs a TIN?
Every company director and shareholder, sole proprietors, and the company itself. If you are registering a business, each owner needs one.
What you need
Your Ghana Card (or passport for non-residents), a phone number and email, and your residential and occupational details. The GRA form used is the DT01.
How to register
You can register through the GRA taxpayers portal, at a GRA office, or let us handle it. When you register a business with NELLA, we prepare the DT01 taxpayer form for anyone without a TIN at no extra cost.
