The cost of registering a company in Ghana has three parts: official ORC fees, your stated capital requirement, and any professional fee if someone files for you. Here is how to budget in 2026.
Official ORC fees
The Registrar charges statutory fees for name search, incorporation and filing beneficial-ownership details. These are set by the ORC and change from year to year — always check the current fees schedule.
Stated capital
A fully Ghanaian-owned company can start with a stated capital as low as GHS 500. Companies with foreign participation face higher minimum capital under GIPC rules, so budget accordingly.
Business name vs company
A business name is the cheapest and fastest to register. A limited company costs more but gives you limited liability and more credibility with banks and partners.
Do not forget the ongoing costs
After registration you must file annual returns every year. Filing late attracts penalties, so factor this into your yearly budget.
